  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; let sit until foamy.
  2. Mix in salt, oil, and two cups of flour until combined. Gradually add more flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead until smooth, then let rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about one hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and divide into 16 pieces. Roll each into a rope shape and cut slits to form bone shapes.
  5. Place on a baking sheet; cover and let rise again for 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F during the last ten minutes of rising.
  7. Bake for 12–14 minutes until golden brown; brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan cheese.
