  • 12 tablespoons very cold unsalted butter
  • ½ cup very cold heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon chai spice blend
  • 1 heaping cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, chai spice blend, and salt. Add cold butter and pulse until mixed.
  3. Whisk together heavy cream, one egg, and one egg yolk. Gradually pulse this mixture into the dry ingredients until dough forms.
  4. Shape dough into a disc and freeze for 30 minutes. Roll out to about an inch thick and cut into wedges.
  5. Bake for 20–22 minutes until golden brown. Let cool before glazing.
  6. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, chai spice blend, vanilla extract, cream, maple syrup, and salt until smooth. Dip scones in glaze before serving.
