  • 700g (1.5 lbs) beef chuck, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, adjust to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth or water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and ginger; cook until fragrant.
  3. Add pureed tomatoes and simmer for about 5 minutes until thickened.
  4. Stir in spices and cook for another minute to release aromas.
  5. Add beef cubes; stir to coat in spices. Pour in broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Cover and simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours until beef is tender.
  7. Before serving, stir in plain yogurt for added creaminess.
