  • 1¾ cups warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dried Italian herbs (basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Extra flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Mix in flour, salt, herbs, mozzarella, and Parmesan until a sticky dough forms.
  3. On a floured surface, knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
  5. Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf or place into a greased bread pan. Allow to rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with a shallow pan of water at the bottom.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
