  • 1 & ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ⅔ cup pumpkin puree (blotted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cream softened butter with white and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, maple syrup, and blotted pumpkin puree; mix until combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  6. Fold in half of the chopped pecans.
  7. Scoop dough onto a cookie sheet and bake for 13–15 minutes until golden around edges.
  8. Cool on a rack before icing with maple icing made from powdered sugar and maple syrup.
