  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 cup crispy turkey bacon
  • 1 jar marinara sauce
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan (for topping)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meat sauce: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until soft. Stir in minced garlic before adding marinara sauce, crumbled turkey bacon, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  2. Make the béchamel: In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour for a few minutes. Gradually add milk while whisking until thickened. Stir in Parmesan cheese and garlic powder; season with salt and pepper.
  3. Assemble the lasagna: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, cooked lasagna noodles, béchamel sauce, mozzarella cheese, and cheddar cheese. Repeat layers and finish with cheese on top.
  4. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Allow resting time before slicing.
