  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (170°C).
  2. Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and lightly grease it.
  3. Melt unsalted butter and dark chocolate together in a saucepan over low heat until smooth. Remove from heat and mix in granulated sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt; fold into the chocolate mixture.
  5. For the pumpkin layer, whisk together pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, egg, vanilla extract, brown sugar, spices, and cornstarch until smooth.
  6. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Spread the pumpkin mixture on top and finish with the remaining brownie batter. Swirl gently if desired.
  7. Bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
