Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (lukewarm)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries (hulled and sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons whole milk (as needed for consistency)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining lukewarm milk with active dry yeast; let sit until frothy.
  2. Mix flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a large bowl; create a well and add the yeast mixture, butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth; let rise in a greased bowl for 1–1.5 hours.
  4. Prepare the cheesecake filling by mixing softened cream cheese with sugar, vanilla extract, flour, and sour cream until smooth.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread softened butter followed by cheesecake filling and cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Roll tightly into a log shape, cut into pieces, and place in a greased baking dish to rise again for about 30–45 minutes.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before topping with icing made from cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk; finish with sliced strawberries.
