  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring (gel-based)
  • Candy fangs for decoration
  • Red syrup for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla and food coloring.
  3. In another bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, and salt; gradually mix into wet ingredients alternating with buttermilk.
  4. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full and bake for 18-20 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  5. Hollow out the centers of cooled cupcakes and fill with a mixture of cake crumbs, sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, and red food coloring.
  6. Frost cupcakes with ivory or peach-colored buttercream and decorate with candy fangs and red syrup.
